Bespoke work is a collaborative and intentional process. Each commission is custom designed to reflect the client’s individuality and requirements, combining RTW techniques with the traditions of tailoring, alongside the designer's personal research and ideas.
Design Consultation & Development
Each bespoke commission begins with a free 30 minute consultation to explore the client’s vision, aesthetic preferences, and the intended use of the garment. Through collaborative dialogue, sketching, and reference gathering, a final design is developed and approved.
Measurements & Fittings
Precise body measurements are taken during an in-person consultation, forming the basis for the garment's structure. A series of fittings follows, each one refining the fit and silhouette to achieve the desired outcome.
Fabric & Trims Sourcing
The design is realised through a considered selection of fabric(s), linings, and trims. Particular attention is paid to the quality, hand feel and drape of the fabric to ensure the materials chosen are the best fit for the design.
Pattern Development & Toiling
In collaboration with an experienced pattern cutter, the garment begins to take shape. Toiles (prototype garments made in calico or sympathetic fabric) are created to refine the fit and structure of the garments through multiple stages:
- Initial pattern
- First toile and fitting
- Pattern refinements, second toile and silhouette sign-off
- Additional fittings can be added as needed
Final Pattern & Garment Construction
Once the design and fit are finalised, construction of the final pieces begins. This includes:
- Final pattern adjustments
- Potential of a panel mock up in final fabric to confirm the fabric itself, internal structure and fusing
- Final garment construction
- Hand finishing
Delivery & Aftercare
Following the final fitting, the completed garment is delivered along with guidance for care. Minor post-delivery adjustments may be available on request to ensure long-term satisfaction.
Lead Times & Pricing
Lead times typically range from 8 to 12 weeks, depending on the complexity of the commission. A quote will be provided post consultation to reflect the design development, fabric sourcing and labour involved.
Making anything bespoke takes time and care, faster lead times can be discussed but not guaranteed.
