The Petticoat Shorts are made uop of two layers: the first a boxy pair of loose fitting shorts finishing just past the knee, and the second a full skirt layer of ruffles, finishing just above the shorts.The skirt is gathered onto the front and back yokes and around the opening of the pockets and leaving a frilled raw edge at the top. 
The Petticoat Shorts are made of cotton jersey, so like a jogger they are very comfortable and easy to wear. The hems are left unfinished except for a stay stitch to allow the fabric to fray slightly over time. The piece is finished with deep pockets and a fully elasticated waistband.
